Welcome to the Hermosa Beach Open
Professional Beach Volleyball Tournament

September 4-7, 2024

The Hermosa Beach Open will be an event that showcases top-tier talent in professional beach volleyball. It will not only provide thrilling matches but also celebrate the spirit of the sport and brings the community together. Supporting this event will help promote the growth and popularity of beach volleyball globally.

The City of Hermosa Beach has reached out to the volleyball community and asked if we can put together a professional tournament. Thanks to the players, sponsors, and many others it looks like we will be having a Hermosa Open this year on Sep 4-7. It will be an old school feel with an old school setup, as we will get back to the roots of what makes beach volleyball such a great sport.

Many parties are working hard on getting the funding together, but we need the support of players, fans, family, friends and all the beach volleyball community around the world. We need to raise $250k. This will help cover prize money for both Men and Women division, Live stream (FREE for everyone around the world), operation costs (simple old school set up), Refs and security. Admission to the event is also FREE!

The main draw will take place Thurs-Sat with a qualifier on Wednesday (depending on sign ups).

Beach volleyball has a rich history in Hermosa Beach, California. The city is renowned for its vibrant beach culture, and volleyball has been a significant part of that since the early 20th century. In the 1920s, locals started playing informal games on the beach, eventually leading to the establishment of more structured competitions.

Hermosa Beach became a hub for beach volleyball in the 1960s and 1970s, with the rise of professional tournaments such as the Hermosa Beach Open. This event, along with others like the Manhattan Beach Open and the Laguna Beach Open, helped popularize the sport and attract top players from around the world.

Throughout the decades, Hermosa Beach has hosted numerous high-profile tournaments, including stops on the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) tour and international competitions. The city’s iconic sandy shores and laid-back atmosphere continue to draw volleyball enthusiasts and spectators alike, making it a cornerstone of the beach volleyball scene in California and beyond.
